MEDITERRANEAN DIET EXAMPLE TO THE WORLD

“Mediterranean diet example to the world” is a poetic journey told through the eyes and words of an old wise man who, after wandering the world and witnessing a humanity devastated by hunger and poverty, returns to Italy, to his native land, Cilento.

It is here that, through his wisdom, he introduces us to the homeland of the Mediterranean diet, a way of life that was proclaimed by UNESCO in Nairobi on November 16, 2010 as “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”.

As defined by him, the Mediterranean diet is much more than a simple dietary regimen. Built around seasonality, local traditions and biodiversity, it represents a way of life that reflects the relationship between people and their land.

As an old proverb says, “If a man is hungry, do not give him a fish, but teach him how to fish”. After guiding us through enchanting places, the old wise man, filled with nostalgia, decides to set off once again to share his wealth with the poor people of the world.

A wealth made not of material possessions, but of knowledge, balance and respect for the land: the Mediterranean way of life.
